Customer Reviews

The product description doesn't begin to tell you how well this product works. Remember the old car jacks, the ones where you pushed the lever up and down to ratchet the car up, one notch at a time? Well, that's basically how this lopper works. Moreover, the lopper is designed so that you can make a single cut (without ratcheting) if you don't need the extra assist. How's that for convenient? So, whether you're snipping a 1" branch or powering through a 2" branch, the Fiskars Titanium Ratchet Drive Lopper takes much less effort to use than a conventional lopper. My wife can tackle pruning jobs that she physically didn't have the strength to do with a standard lopper.
So, why isn't it perfect? Because there's a trick to using the ratcheting feature. (I won't bother explaining it here, it's much easier to see at the Fiskars' website. Google for "Fiskars Titanium Ratchet Drive Lopper" and you should be able to find it. Then click the video link on the web page to see the demo.) Most of the time, the operation goes smoothly. However, every once in a while, because of the position of a branch or obstruction, it's a little awkward to use the ratcheting feature - I may have to re-position the lopper just so that I can actuate it from the correct side. The fact that I have to occasionally stop and think about what I'm doing didn't prevent me from giving the Fiskars a 5-star rating.
Other than that, the product is ruggedly built. 27-inch length composite handles, which appear to be strong enough to last the lifetime of the lopper. 2-inch cutting capacity according to the manufacturer (but I've been able to squeeze in and cut slightly larger diameter branches). Titanium blade appears to keep its edge very well. With routine maintenance and an occasional sharpening, I'd guess that the Fiskars Titanium Ratchet Drive Lopper would last the lifetime of the average homeowner.
Including tax, I paid just under $50 for this item. I considered buying the 28" Fiskars Power-Lever Lopper, which was about $30 at that time. I'm very happy that I decided to pay a little more for such a fine product. Highly recommended.

These are absolutely wonderful clippers, especially for larger branches that would otherwise have to be hand-sawn. I've had them for about a month or more and they do exactly as described and are perfection in pruners!
